Sammy Oakley PPS Retirement Announcement

Dear Friends,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Sammy Oakley after 35 years. It does not come as a surprise in that Sammy shared with me his plans a few years back and the desire for an orderly transition–but it does require reflection.

Under Sammy’s leadership, PPS has gone from being a small division of a larger company, often required to support itself without much assistance or direction, to the independent leader in the propeller overhaul MRO market. Sammy is responsible for the expansion of the product line across multiple platforms, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and most recently categories, with the development of helicopter rotor blade and hub repair capabilities. PPS went from being totally dependent on OEM’s parts pricing to business model supported by deep and respected engineering capability. PPS challenged the status quo and received important legal opinions from the FAA that championed not only our growth but set the stage for more competition and improved safety in the aviation aftermarket.

Just as important is the personal side. Sammy has led this company with integrity and respect for every individual, while maintaining his sense of humor and humility. I am happy for Sammy and Lynne. They are retiring on their terms and able to spend more time with their grandchild and pursuing personal interests. Sammy’s last day will be January 7, 2022. Fortunately, he will be remaining close by and has left a great team at PPS.

As part of our agreed transition plan, Paul Bolton, will assume Sammy’s responsibilities at PPS at that time as GM. Paul has demonstrated outstanding leadership both at PPS and for our other subsidiaries and I know that you will continue to give him the support going forward.
Please join me in thanking Sammy for his contributions to our organization.
